FAQ, here you can find our most frequently asked questions about our Peggy Pegs and the system it comes with.
Do i have to screw the pegs all the way in?
An ordinary tent peg has to be hit in as far as it will go, using our Peggy Pegs this will not be necessary anymore. When using an electric drill / screwdriver simply set the torque to 10‐15% reduction or to the maximum torque spec of our Peggy (see packaging). As soon as the Peggy screw‐in peg is in the right and secure position, the drill / screwdriver will spin by its safety clutch. If this is the case, move the blue rope clip as close to the ground and your all done!
“A bit more than secure means broken”. This sentence is really important because even if our Peggy Pegs are almost unbreakable they may break by forcing them all the way into the ground.
What size is the head of our Peggy Pegs?
All Peggy Pegs are 17mm hex head. This includes the PP05 Small Peg, PP02 Standard Peg, PP12 Large Plastic Peg, PP13 Large Aluminium Peg, HP61 Hardcore Pegs (hammer in screw out).
Which Pegs do I choose ?
This of course depends on the soil / ground type or the application that your are encountering.
Over the last 10 years we have developed Peggy Pegs for all sorts of soil / ground types! From Sand to grass to the most extreme rocky ground types.
We have categorized our Peggy Pegs in the following types;
N Normal grounds, from hard to a little soft – with hook 20 cm long,torque max. 25Nm
L Soft, sandy grounds – Peggy (L)ong with hook 31 cm long torque max. 30 Nm
LA Soft to dense grounds with stones – Peggy (L)ong (A)luminium, with hook 31 cm long torque max. 70 Nm
HC Most extreme grounds – Hardcore Peggy Hit-in Screw-out Peggy Alu, with hook 15 cm long torque max. 70 Nm
S For loops and plates – Peggy (S)mall – 12 cm long, torque max. 5 Nm
It is provided for loops of trekking tents and tent skirts as well as Peggy Peg plates (Fix&Go, Uni‐ and Anchor Plate) etc. Pre‐drilling might be useful in compressed and compact grounds.

What are Peggy Pegs made of?
Our Peggys are made from glass-fibre reinforced polyamide in the injection moulding process. This material is also known as “nylon”. It can be found in the cockpit of the motorhome, on the bicycle rack but also in your household and garden. Actually, you can find it everywhere in your daily life. It’s not a cheap plastic, which is usually used for plastic impact pegs. It’s a matter of the right processing, as well as the perfect mix of fibreglass and UV inhibitors to create a high-quality product. It is equally light, elastic, very heat-resistant and highly resilient, but not unbreakable (see above). The best possible choice of materials for this purpose.
Can they break off ?
Well, of course they can break off, everything what’s beyond tight is broken. From all the "broken pieces" we examine, 99% were overwound. most of the times because people tried to screw the Peggy in all the way into the soil / ground.
Every screw (also ordinary ones) has a certain value of newton meters. If this gets exceeded the screw breaks. So for our Peggy Pegs it is effective only to screw until the Peggy stops turning further into the ground. Check if the Peg is secure, work with the height-adjustable system and always place the double hook closest to the soil because of the leverage effect. You will achieve this by setting your electric drill to the required torque and starting it with short intervals. By doing this, you’ll notice the counter pressure of the Peggy Peg before reaching its breaking point. When carrying this out handle with care and everything should stay perfectly intact for many years!
Will the Small Pegs (PP05) fit through a 10mm eyelet in my ground sheet?
Definitely, the Small Peggy Peg (PP05) was predominantly designed for pegging floor matting and ground sheets, to provide a clean working surface outside your caravan and under the awning, but in certain ground conditions, it is an ideal guy rope anchor!
Which Pegs should I use in Sand ?
The Large Plastic (and Aluminium) Pegs are excellent in sandy conditions, and for the best results, scoop a handful of the really dry loose sand of the top of the beach and drill into the firmer well compacted slightly damp sub level of sand – we’ve seen people making temporary boat moorings from the large pegs.
Why are there plastic and aluminum Peggy Pegs?
Both materials have in common that they are extremely light but also strong.
Every camper needs to think about their maximum load nowadays. Our Starterkit weighs only 1.3KG, a huge difference compared to regular tent pegs sets which often weigh around 5-10kg.
Do I need to pre-drill ?
In extremely hard, frozen ground or on gravel it is useful to pre‐drill a hole. A Peggy can be easily screwed into this pilot hole by using the hand driver or rechargeable drill.
Do the Hardcore Pegs work with the Fix & Go Plate?
Yes, the Fix & Go Plate has been designed to work with the standard screw in tent peg (PP02) as well as the hammer in screw out Hardcore pegs (HP61) plus, 2 large pegs (PP12) can be used by simply slipping the peg into the cut-out holes in the plate, and drilling into the ground.
Can I make an emergency guy rope by attaching a rope to a tarp with a Crocodile Peg?
Certainly, either pass a rope through the back of the clip, or use it like the blue rope clip on the pegs, by slipping a loop of rope over the rope clips. And tighten the jaws of the clip securely over the tarpaulin.
Can i also use Peggy Pegs in winter?
Yes! You just need to consider some things. In general, it’s the same application like in gravel/stony areas. It’s mandatory to pre-drill! If necessary, even with a percussion drill. The plastic material the Peggy's are made from contains a little amount of water which freezes at minus temperatures. Because of this the Peggy gets brittle and is easier to break. We recommend you therefore to give them into hot water before screwing them into the frozen ground. This gives more elasticity and also helps before screwing the Peggy Pegs out again.
